Mumbai have achieved yet another golden milestone under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership as they win the Irani Cup 2024 by a first innings lead of 121 runs. In the process, they ended a 27-year-old drought with Tanush Kotian’s ton landing the final nail in the coffin for the Rest of India. 

Few individuals are not just entertainers on the field but also inspire a generation with their skillset and work ethics. Shane Warne is a no-brainer in this particular list and Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan surprisingly followed in his footsteps on the fifth day of the ensuing Irani Cup.

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Shardul Thakur are set to compete in the Irani Trophy under Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy for the Mumbai team. Iyer, currently out of the Indian Test squad, is expected to play for Mumbai in their clash against the Rest of India from October 1 to 5 in Lucknow.

The Rest of India have announced their 15-member squad for their upcoming fixture of the Irani Cup against the reigning Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra. Hanuma Vihari will lead the side, and the likes of Abhimanyu Easwaran, Priyank Panchal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Mayank Agarwal have also made the cut.
