BAN vs SA | Rabada and spinners clean sweep Bangladesh as Proteas bolster WTC Final chances
South Africa beat Bangladesh by XX runs and enforced a 2-0 whitewash away from home. Despite a gritty 82 from Mominul Haque, the hosts incurred a follow-on, courtesy of Kagiso Rabada’s fifer followed by Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy toppling them thick and fast in the second innings.
Resuming hereon, the Bangladesh duo looked comfortable until the introduction of Senuran Muthusamy in the 43rd over who immediately trapped the southpaw plumb in front for 82. Although Taijul tried to retain strike on as many occasions, he fell prey to Keshav Maharaj’s flighted delivery to end Bangladesh’s struggle at 159.
Failing to avoid the follow-on, Bangladesh were South Africa’s disciplined bowling for the second time in the match. Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy failed to offer a decent start, falling to Paterson and Muthusamy in the sixth and eleventh over respectively. With the pitch offering grip to the spinners, Muthusamy and Keshav Maharaj further removed Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque respectively at the cusp of Tea.
Resuming from 43/4, the South African spin pair didn’t let the Bangladeshi batters settle with Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Najmul Hossain Shanto faltering after Tea. While Taijul Islam looked to replicate his previous innings' valiance, a false stroke in the 36th over led to his downfall. With Bangladesh trailing by 319 runs and two wickets in hand, this game looked almost done with the dusk setting in. Feeling the heat, Hasan Mahmud countered the Proteas bowlers with a few slogs - three sixes and a four - before Mahidul Islam Ankon’s departure in the 42nd over. Subsequently, Hasan smoked a couple of more sixes against Muthusamy in the 43rd over before the unit succumbed for 143, handing South Africa a monumental 273-run victory.

Very impressive
Muthusamy has been very impressive in this test match. He has really put his hand up. Good to see we have a good back up for kesh. It is also very nice that he has good batting potential.

Beast
Rabada is an absolute beast. Flat pitch he takes wickets. Green pitch he takes wickets. Definitely deserves that number 1 test ranking spot. He has been so good for us. If only we played more test matches. He’d definitely be up there with the best bowlers of all time.
