Starting the Super Eight stages with a 76-run loss to get a crucial win over the West Indies to reach the semi-final, India has crossed every obstacle. The defending champions are now eager to get their spot in the final clash, and become the three time champions. But for this, in the semi-final stages.

The clash is now set to take place on 5 March at 7:00 PM IST, as Wankhede Stadium hosts this iconic game. This will also be for the third consecutive time in the T20 World Cup, when both teams face each other in the semi-final clash. In the last two editions, the team which won the semi-final between India and England also went on to win the T20 World Cup.

England won the toss in this game and they decided to field first. India did not have a good start, as the batting was slow and wickets fell early. KL Rahul was dismissed scoring 5 runs off 5 balls, while Rohit Sharma scored 27 runs off 28 balls, and Suryakumar managed to put just 14 runs on the board. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya were able to put India back on track.

Kohli brought up another magnificent half-century in this game, while Hardik Pandya scored 63 runs off 33 balls. India scored 168 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in this game, while Chris Jordan remained the star for England. He was able to take 3 wickets, and now it was time for England to chase.

Alex Hales went on to score 86 runs off 47 balls, while Jos Buttler scored 80 runs off 49 balls to power England to a 10-wicket win. Except for Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel, all Indian bowlers had an economy above 10. With India losing this game, England advanced to the finals and defeated Pakistan to win the title.

T20 World Cup 2024: Semi-final

Just in the next edition, hosted by the West Indies and USA, the previous semi-final clash was set again. In the Group stages, India topped the table with 3 wins in 4 games, and they continued the undefeated form in Super Eight stages also. England finished second in Group stages with 2 wins and a loss in 4 games, and 2nd in Super Eight group also, with 2 wins and a loss in 3 games.

Again it was England winning the toss and electing to field first. India's start was troubled with quick wickets of Virat Kohli (9) and Rishabh Pant (4). But Suryakumar Yadav and the skipper Rohit Sharma took the command. They went on to bash the English bowlers to take revenge of the previous semi-final loss against them.

India topped the table with 3 wins in 4 games, and they continued to demonstrate an undefeated form in Super Eight stages.

Rohit Sharma scored 57 runs off 39 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav just missed his fifty, being dismissed for 47 runs off 36 balls. Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel played a cameo in the end, scoring runs at a strike rate above 160. India posted 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, as Jordan again took 3 wickets in this game.

But this time, the English batsmen didn't have any answers to the Indian spinners. The duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took the much needed wickets to trouble England early in the game. Axar Patel was the star in this game, as he took the wickets of Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, and Jonny Bairstow. Kuldeep Yadav took the responsibility of the middle order, as two run outs further helped the Indian team to win the game.

England was bowled out for just 103 runs, allowing India to get a massive victory. Taking revenge for the 2022 semi-final loss, India went on to play the final clash against South Africa. They won the finals against the Proteas by a small margin, winning their second T20 World Cup title.
