WATCH | Marnus Labuschagne’s marathon sprint to complete one-handed screamer
Few individuals in the sporting arena are used to putting more than one hundred percent effort into their work irrespective of the stage. Marnus Labuschagne’s brilliant one-handed catch during the Glamorgan versus Gloucestershire clash in the T20 Blast further exemplifies his diligence.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Glamorgan aggregated 140 runs on the board in the first innings. Brilliant bowling from Matthew Taylor, Marchant de Lange, and Beau Webster was backed formidably by Jack Taylor's 48-ball 70 that helped Gloucestershire steer past the finishing line in this South Group clash. However, a moment from the match that stole the spotlight was a tremendous catch from Labuschagne to send Ben Charlesworth packing in the tenth over.
With the run rate revolving around five runs per over at the cusp of the ninth over, Mason Crane came over the wicket and sprayed a leg break on full length near the leg stump. Charlesworth cleared the front leg and tried to hack it fine of long on but got the stroke off the inside half of the willow. As the ball swirled near the edge of the circle, Labuschagne from deep sprinted along the boundary ropes and leapfrogged to grasp the ball with his right hand. The Aussie covered enormous ground in a quick span to complete a screamer, leaving the Gloucestershire side struggling halfway through the chase.
Immediately, Labuschagne’s tremendous take gained attention and the video circulated on social media.
Catch of the month!!!
