India's young shooting sensation Saurabh Chaudhary has bagged gold in the men's junior 10m Air Pistol event at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon, South Korea. He set a new world record in the event as he broke his own previous best with a podium finish at the championship.

Chaudhary bagged the gold medal with a total score of 245.5 in the finals of the event while Korea's Lim Hojin and India's Arjun Singh Cheema finished with silver and bronze respectively at the same event. Lim secured 243.1 while Cheema managed to score 218.

The 16-year-old broke his own world junior record which was set back in June this year during the junior World Cup. He qualified for the finals by finishing third with 581 points to his name.

Chaudhary didn't start off well and both Lim and Cheema were ahead of him. The gold medalist took the lead only after the second series of five shots. He remained calm and maintained his composure in the finals to win the medal. However, Cheema was at the second position in the finals for a long time but bowed out earlier than the Korean.

The Indian shooter had bagged a gold medal at the recently concluded Jakarta Asian Games and set a new games record of 240.7 in the 10m air pistol event. He also had qualified for the Youth Olympics Games by bagging a gold medal and at Asia Youth Olympics Games qualification.

Indian team settled for a silver in 10m Air Pistol team event with a total score of 1730. The Indian side comprising Anmol Jain, Chaudhary, and Cheema fell short by just two points from the Korean unit that bagged gold with 1732. Russia remained at the third position with a score of 1711.
