WATCH, CPL 2024 | Pooran falls prey to the tag-team brilliance of Powell and Holder in handicap play
Team games can often outnumber individual brilliance. Well, it's true in most cases and indeed, what could’ve earned Nicholas Pooran a six, caved into his dismissal, courtesy of an extraordinary relay catch from Jason Holder and Rovman Powell in the recent Caribbean Premier League clash.
Putting to bat first during the toss, Akeal Hosein’s early couple of scalps was nit enough to dump the hosts as Quinton de Kock and Rovman’s grinding with the willow helped them post a fighting total on board. Similar to their oppositions, the Trinbago Knight Riders lost a couple of blows leaving Nicholas Pooran with the task to get them out of scrutiny. However, the 51-run stand was fragmented, courtesy of brilliant teamwork from the Royals veterans.
Keshav Maharaj’s fifth ball in the ninth over was tossed up outside the stumps that Nicholas Pooran tried to heave down the ground over long off region. However, the execution came off the bat’s top-edge and the white rock swirled down the throat of Rovman who trodded backward and failed to maintain poise. Realising his feet at the edge of the boundary ropes, the Royals skipper threw the ball towards Holder sprinting towards him from long on. Unsurprisingly, the all-rounder got hold of the ball and ended up completing a brilliant tag teamwork. Seeing this, Pooran had to walk back to the dugout and the Twitterverse applauded the duo’s work.
Team work makes the dream work!!!!!!
