Experienced pugilist Shiva Thapa defeated France's Lounes Hamraoui 4-1 in a nail-biting encounter to enter the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2021 AIBA Men's Boxing World Championships. The pugilist, who will lock horns with Turkey's Kerem Oezmen in the quarter-final, is one win away from a medal.

Indian boxers Rohit Mor and Akash Sangwan made it to the pre-quarters at the 2021 AIBA Men’s Boxing Championship, in a convincing manner. While debutant Rohit bear Alen Rahmic of Bosnia and Herzegovina by unanimous margin, Akash recorded a confident 4-1 victory against German Daniel Krotter.

On an eventful and final day of the Men’s National Boxing Championships 2021 on Tuesday, Assam's Shiva Thapa defended his title against SSCB's Dalveer Singh Tomar 5-0. Now Thapa, a World Championship bronze medalist, will represent India in the coveted tournament, starting October, once again.

In the semi-final clashes on Monday, World Championship bronze medalist Shiva Thapa trounced his opponent Abhishek Yadav 5-0 to make it to the summit bout of the Men's National Boxing Championships. Reigning Asian champion Sanjeet and Husamuddin of Services too progressed to the gold medal clash.
