Neha Triphati has claimed the top spot with one-shot lead over Gaurika Bishnoi, who is tied in second place, on the opening day of Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Eagleton Golf Resort in Bengaluru. Pranavi Urs has been tied on the third spot while Rhea P Saravanan was tied on fourth spot.

Neha Tripathi made most of the windy conditions to finish with a two under-70 card on the opening day of the ninth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Eagleton Golf Resort in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Tripathi took a slender one-shot lead over Gaurika Bishnoi (71), who has played just three events on the Tour so far this season. Mysuru amateur Pranavi Urs, who knows the course like the back of her hand, was a stroke further back in third place.

Coimbatore amateur Rhea P Saravanan was fourth on one-over 73, while Tvesa Malik, who scored a breakthrough victory at the very course last year, struggled a bit for a four-under 76. Despite the swirling winds, Tripathi was solid off the tee, barring the third hole, and spot on with her ironplay. It was the greens, slightly on the slower side, that seemed to bother the Kolkata star, who also had a three-putted bogey on the 14th hole.

However, the 26-year-old began in fine fashion, picking up a shot on the very first hole. Although she let slip that advantage after finding the bunker with a 7-iron tee shot on the third hole, Tripathi birdied the sixth (12-footer) and the seven holes, where she sank a 25 feet right to left curler from the fringe. The dropped shot on the 14th spoilt her card a bit. Bishnoi, who was two over at the turn, came back into contention with four birdies on the back nine for her one-under 71.
