Sourav Kothari lifts Pacific International Snooker title

Indian cueist Sourav Kothari has clinched the 2019 Pacific International Snooker Championship - The Reventon Classic, in Melbourne on Monday. Kothari defeated Tyson Crinis of Australia to win the trophy in a best of nine frames in the final round of the Snooker Championship yesterday.

The former national and Asian billiards champion played in the final round really well from the very beginning and had a 3-0 lead in his favour to start with. Although the Indian lost the fourth battle, he made a brilliant comeback in the fifth encounter and didnā€™t look back after that.Ā 

Kothari eventually won 5-1 with scores of 70-13; 89-26; 77(43)-46; 44-62; 71(67)-46; 85-1 to finish with a title win in the Pacific International Championship. A couple of unforced errors by the Australian helped the Indian towards the end of the game and he comprehensively won the crown in Melbourne.

In the Championship, Kothari also won against some of the tougher opponents including Australiaā€™s Kurt Dunham. After beating multiple World Billiards Champion Peter Gilchrist of Singapore by a margin of 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Championship in Australia, Kothari had got the better of Australiaā€™s James Mifsud in the semi-final of the tournament.
