Is KL Rahul Really Unlucky or Just Not Built for T20 Cricket?

Taking up the 30th match of IPL 2023, LSG failed to chase 135 runs against GT despite KL Rahul scoring 68 runs off 61 balls. Even in the 2022 IPL Eliminator, KL Rahul played a knock of 79 runs from 58 balls as the team was chasing 207 runs in a pressure chase. Ever since IPL 2024, KL Rahul has been in third place in the list of players with the most dot balls played, as he has 172 dot balls to his name.

Coming to his records in the IPL, out of the 5580 runs in the IPL, he has got more than 2500+ runs in the IPL, which have resulted in losses. Moreover, in the IPL 2023, his strike rate for the Lucknow Super Giants dropped to 113.22 and hence it proved to be a challenge for the team.

Being one of the greats of the Indian Cricket Team, KL Rahul has proved his potential at the big stage. Also, he is one of the key performers in the IPL for teams such as Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and now Delhi Capitals. However, at the crucial stages of the game, KL Rahul has been called out for playing slowly in the middle overs, which makes it difficult for his team to compensate in the death overs of the game.
