AUS vs ENG | Twitter on edge as Will Jacks brings England back with stunning take to see back of Smith

Will Jacks could not do justice with the bat after coming into the side for the second Test against Australia in Brisbane. But the England all-rounder made slight amends to that with a stunning fielding effort that saw him pull off a one-handed blinder to dismiss the in-form Steve Smith.

‌Australia seemed like running away with the second Test against England in Brisbane after their commanding display in the first two sessions on day two. After bowling out the visitors for 334 early on, openers Jake Weatherald and Travis Head added a quickfire 77 to give them an upper hand.

Weatherald and Marus Labuschagne scored stroke-filled half-centuries to take the side close to the 200-run mark before Steve Smith and Cameron Green joined together. The pair added 95 runs for the fourth wicket as the home side came to within 43 runs of  England’s first innings score.

However, Carse cleaned up Green (45) in the first ball of the 57th over before Will Jacks came up with an outstanding effort to end Smith’s stay in the same over as well. With Carse banging the ball short and aimed at Smith’s body, the Australian skipper responded with the pull.

Little did he know that it would result in his undoing as Jacks quickly took two or three steps to his right from square leg. His anticipation paid off as he put in a fine dive to catch the ball with his outstretched right hand.

He ensured the safe completion of the catch as well, with fingers right underneath the ball as he completed the dive. He was all pumped up as he threw the ball in the air before jumping onto Joe Root in jubilation.

Twitter was in awe of Jacks’ effort, as he made amends for Ben Duckett dropping a sitter a ball before.
