As a global icon, one often tries to be conservative under public attention but Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed to do so on one such incidence. The duo tried to hide their laughter over a typical Pakistan fielding mishap that took centre stage as India and Pakistan went loggerheads in New York.

Winning the toss and electing to field first went well with the Pakistan unit as the pacers kept their composure amidst incessant rain interruptions. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were sent packing halfway through the powerplay and Rishabh Pant’s 43 was spoiled by the lower middle order as Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, and Haris Rauf wreaked havoc to bundle them for 119. However, the Men in Green’s fielding wasn’t spot on with a comical incident leaving Rohit and Kohli in splits.

On the third ball of the 18th over, Shaheen bowled a low full-toss at the off stump that Siraj pushed towards sweeper cover. While the batter intended for a quick single, the bowler was casual in his approach to gather the incoming ball and let away an overthrow with the ball rolling towards mid-wicket. This assisted the Indian pair to sneak a couple of runs, leaving Babar Azam furious. Soon, the cameraman caught the attention of Rohit and Kohli sitting next to each other in the dugout with the former in smiles and the latter hiding his laughter with his palms.

Pakistan’s fielding was horrendous in their last encounter against the USA and seeing similar mistakes get repeated, the Twitterverse erupted.

I am not even kidding. The way Siraj was batting was proper way of playing in this condition. He was picking gaps and running doubles and you hit bad balls for boundaries. This was not a pitch where you play high risk in the air shots. Everyone was going for 6s.
