ZIM vs IND | Twitter in splits as Wellington Masakadza’s early call for a catch leads to surprising twist
There is a thin line between confidence and overconfidence, and it's important to stay within the threshold. This was evident in the second T20I against India, where Wellington Masakadza's bold attempt to catch the ball resulted in a mishap, giving Abhishek Sharma a lifeline in Harare.
India had a poor start after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Skipper Shubman Gill failed to fire again departing in the second over. However, Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad built a solid partnership, bringing the score to 40/1 by the end of the seventh over. Sharma looked in great form, especially after being granted a lifeline due to Masakadza’s poor fielding.
On the fifth ball of the eighth over, Luke Jongwe delivered a slower-length ball outside the off stump at 121 kmph. The ball landed near Sharma’s front foot as he aimed to get underneath it and hit it for a maximum. However, his timing was miscued and the ball soared high into the air. Both the mid-off and long-on fielders ran for the catch, but a confident Masakadza called for it, sprinting from the long-off region. Unfortunately, his call resulted in a poor show as he failed to judge the trajectory, letting the ball slip through his hands. A dejected Zimbabwe side immediately grasped the significance of the missed catch, while Sharma was relieved by the reprieve, which sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter.

A fabulous knock from the youngster and though he was dropped early on from Wellington Masakadza and now Zimbabwe are paying for it.
Why
Isn't Wellington Masakadza the specialist spinner in the line up? If he's not going to bowl why is he playing?
