Menâs Hundred | Twitter reacts to Sam Curran channel inner SKY to complete balletic catch Â
Stellar performances under immense pressure often captivate the audienceâs mind. Sam Curran took a brilliant catch at the edge of the boundary boards in the Menâs Hundred against Manchester Originals brought flashbacks from Suryakumar Yadavâs outstanding catch in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.Â
Winning the toss and choosing to field first on a must-win clash, the Originals were rocked on the back foot by Will Jacksâ aggressive 20-ball 41. With Sam Curran continuing the assault throughout the innings, the Oval Invincibles reached 164/8 in 100 balls. Seeking a similar intent in the second innings, Matthew Hurst and Phil Salt forged an 89-run opening partnership to set up the chase for the middle and lower order. However, an outstanding catch from Sam at the fag end of the match hung the contest in balance.
After smoking a six against Adam Zampa in the 17th set, Paul Walter went for a big heave on a fuller, flighted ball outside the stumps. The southpaw squared up to club the ball against the turn and middled it. However, Walter hit it against the windâs direction, causing the ball to slow down and land in the hands of Sam at the edge of the deep mid wicket boundary. However, the grab wasnât easy for the three-dimensional cricketer as he judged the ball well and threw it in the air after catching it to place one foot outside the rope and return to the field of play, eventually completing the catch.Â
Indiaâs Suryakumar did a similar that looked even better in the main event of the T20 World Cup 2024, and Twitterati felt flashbacks of it due to Sam Curranâs brilliant work.Â
