ENG vs SL | Twitter reacts to Oval crowd humorously cheer tripping Asitha’s dropped catch on Brook’s survival
When life gives you a chance, you have to grab it with open arms. Already on the back foot in the third Test at the Kennington Oval, Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando failed to capitalise on a healthy opportunity to get rid of Harry Brook, leaving the home crowd mock the bowler humorously.
After a couple of overs in the day, Milan Rathnayake came over the wicket and bowled an outswinger on a fuller length at the fourth stump line. Brook strolled a tad down the ground to go for a lofted stroke over the cover region. However, the 25-year-old got the shot off the bat’s toe end and the white rock skewed high up in the air towards the deep. Asitha had plenty of time to judge the ball in the air and grab the ball at deep cover but failed to do so. He tripped in the grassy area and watched the ball land in front at the same time. The English crowd erupted in joy seeing the fielder drop a regulation chance and offer Brook a survival. While Asitha was seen utterly disappointed, the Twitterverse flooded with reactions on the poor fielding display.

Bad drop
"Just about sums up Sri Lanka's cricket in this series"

Oh dear 🤦
Asitha Fernando with a bad, bad drop!
Benefitted
Brook, already reprieved once on review, has now benefitted from a terrible drop by Asitha Fernando off Milan Rathnayake. Pope has edged one past a non-existent third slip for four. England 234-3.

Throwing away
Harry Brook is at risk of throwing away his talent. He’s slogging. He’s far too good for this.

Not that good
harry brook you are not as good as you think you are!

Good player
Why doesn't Harry Brook just give himself a chance? He's such a good player.

Proving it
Harry Brook showing why DRS is great for test cricket. There was a sound, but he didn’t nick it.

No recriminations either. It looked super out.
