Twitter perplexed as sneaky Asadulla's greed converts Mahedi's dead ball into comical wicket
There has always been an endless supply of bizarre dismissals in cricket but rarely if ever they have been such self-inflicted. An embarrassing blooper by Mahedi Hasan in Bangladesh's National Cricket League turned to his advantage when Asadulla Al Galib tried to take advantage.
Sylhet took a commanding first innings lead of 223 runs against Khulna on the back of Asadulla Al Galib's 115 and Amite Hasan's double ton that took the team to 497 in the first innings. However, the centurion's knock ended in hilarious fashion when the ball slipped out of Mahedi Hasan's hand.
The red cherry soared high in the air and while Mahedi and the umpire turned around trying to locate where it had ended up, Asadulla took the opportunity to dance halfway down the track and try to clear the long-on boundary. However, the ball went only as far as the fielder on the boundary and Mahedi was ecstatic at having been gifted a wicket.
The spinner ended up with a four-fer and earned much attention to Twitter due to his antics.
