Men's Single Sculls Quarterfinal 4
Meanwhile, at the front, Giedrius has maintained his lead but Yauheni is right down his tail. We could be in for a close finish here.
Ryuta maintains a comfortable third.
The field is spread wide apart now. There is not much to look forward to as far as Balraj is concerned, the quest for a medal looks practically over for him.
5:17.22 for Balraj at the 1500m mark, nearly eight seconds behind the final qualification spot.

Men's Single Sculls Quarterfinal 4
THe sculls are stationed on the starting line.
AND WE ARE OFF!
Balraj gets a poor start and he is immediately on the backfoot.
The Indian is lagging behind in last place.
He is well over 10 meters from the lead now.
Elbanna has fallen even further behind though in the first lane.
Balraj moves upto fifth. At the 500m mark, he is over three seconds behind the leader.
REMINDER: ONLY TOP THREE QUALIFY TO THE SEMIS
We have status quo as we approach the midway point of the race.
Balraj is now well over five scull lengths behind the top-three.
The time split at the 1km mark for Balraj is nearly seven seconds.
The only good news for now is he has managed to drop the Egyptian in sixth and is over 15 metres ahead of the last placed rower. It is inconsequential though in the grand scheme of things.

Men's Single Sculls Repechage 2
Balraj gets off to a good start in the repechage! He is neck-to-neck with Quentin Antognellin from Monaco with just two-tenths separating the duo. Meanwhile, Indonesia's Memo lags a couple of seconds behind as the rowers reach the 500-metre mark of the race.
Reminder: The top-two directly qualify for the quarterfinal!
We could be in for a photo-finish here! Halfway through the race and only a thousandth separate the two leaders! Behind, Memo has fallen behind some more and Balraj's lead in second has grown to two and a half seconds.
The Monegasque seems to have upped his tempo now and is gradually inching away from the Indian ever so slightly. Balraj won't be too miffed though given he is doing the same to Memo behind and a top-two finish would be enough to seal a quarter-final spot. At the 1500m mark, Antognelli's lead now reads a second and three-tenths while Balraj is well over four seconds ahead of Memo.
The Indian is on a charge here! Balraj nearly catches up with the leader Quentin Antognelli in the home stretch but the Monegasque stays firm to take the chequered flag in first. Balraj ends with a time of 7:12.41, over seven seconds ahead of the man behind.
BALRAJ CLINCHES A QUARTERFINAL SPOT WITH EASE!
