Archery World Cup | Aman Saini beats Gilles Seywert in compound men’s event
Indian archer Aman Saini has beaten Luxembourg's Gilles Seywert in the second round of the men’s compound event at the ongoing Archery World Cup in Berlin, Germany. Tarundeep Rai, on the other hand, lost in the second round of the recurve event against Italy's Amedeo Tonelli in the global event.
Aman Saini continued his good run at the fourth stage of the Archery World Cup in Berlin as he won the second round encounter against Luxembourg's Gilles Seywert. The Indian won by 145-142 in the men’s compound event to qualify for the third round where he will meet Croatian archer Domagoj Buden.Â
Fellow Indian Bhagwan Das also won his second round clash against World No. 74 Limas Joakim 145-142. USA's Kris Schaff will be Das’ opponent in the next round of the tournament today.
In the women’s category, compound archer Raj Kaur got the better of Egypt's Nancy Elgibily 137-130. She will now take on Colombia's Sara Lopez in the second round of the tournament. Her compatriot Swati Dudhwal defeated Turkey's Gizem Elmaagacli by 136- 128 to march into the second round. However, Jyothi Surekha Vennam lost to New Zealand's Chloe Underdown by only a couple of points.
In the men’s recurve event, India’s ace archer Tarundeep Rai lost to Italy's Amedeo Tonelli by 4-6 in the second round. Meanwhile, in the women’s recurve archery, Deepika Kumari managed to beat Turkey's Gulnaz Coskun 6-2.
