Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised Tanguy Ndombele after the Frenchman’s impressive performance against Aston Villa. It also saw Ndombele net his first goal for the club, with Kane netting a brace as Tottenham pulled off a comeback to get their first points of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino has praised new man Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder’s impressive performance in the win against Aston Villa. It wasn’t the best Tottenham performance, with the North London side going 1-0 down in the first half, but things changed in the second half. The addition of Christian Eriksen changed the game completely for the North London side.

The Danish international allowed Ndombele to flourish more creatively and that effectively changed the course of the game, with Kane eventually getting a brace.

“Overall it was a fantastic performance but to be honest, I think there is room to improve,' the Spurs boss said. “He only showed 30-40 per cent of his potential, he has amazing potential still to improve.

"Scoring is one of the aspects that he needs to work on, he didn't score too many goals at Lyon but that is one of the areas that is a target for him to improve this season. But it's so early, it's his first game, (and) he scored. I'm delighted for him, very pleased for him.

"You know when a player arrives at a team from a different country it's difficult to adapt and that's going to help him to feel happy, of course, and feel comfortable on the pitch with the team."
