Romelu Lukaku is officially the new Inter Milan striker, and his arrival already caused some changes at San Siro. The Belgium international striker has been handed Inter's No. 9 shirt, the one that has belonged to Mauro Icardi since the Argentine’s arrival in 2013/2014.
This is clearly a move by Inter to try and push the Argentine to leave the San Siro this summer, with Juventus continuing to be linked to a possible move for Icardi this before the window closes. Inter made an €80 million effort to bring Lukaku to San Siro, with new manager Antonio Conte pushing for the move. The Nerazzurri will now try to get a big-money deal by letting Icardi go, as they look to balance their books.
The Argentina star has been heavily linked to a move to Serie A champions Juventus, with Napoli also in contention for the 26-year-old. Many rumours have been told regarding Icardi's future, with Juventus allegedly involving Dybala in a potential deal, and Napoli trying to land the star forward with multiple proposals (the initial offer was €40 million-plus €2 million bonuses, rejected by Inter). All this simply points towards a fresh start for Mauro Icardi, with his move to another club just a matter of time.
