IND vs NZ | India tour of New Zealand postponed to 2022

India will not tour New Zealand later this year for a three-match ODI series as planned, due to a busy schedule and Covid-19 related instructions. 

A New Zealand Cricket spokesperson confirmed to that the series will be played after the T20 World Cup in Australia next year. New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White stressed on the importance of a break for the players.

“We’ve got to be mindful of players coming back from a long winter and we’ve got to give them time at home as well,” NZC chief executive David White said.

The Kane-Williamson led side will however, tour India for two Tests and three T20Is in November-December, as already scheduled. They will then have to undergo 14 days of managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) upon their return just before Christmas. That could mean that their series opener against Bangladesh, meant to be a Boxing Day Test, could begin on December 28 or later.

Apart from Bangladesh, New Zealand will host Netherlands and South Africa during the season, as well as the Women’s World Cup in March-April. The Tests against Bangladesh and South Africa will be part of the World Test Championship.
