West Indies’ Carlos Brathwaite has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for 'showing dissent at an umpire's decision' against Virat Kohli-led India on Thursday. Brathwaite pled guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Chris Broad.

West Indies succumbed to a crushing 125-run loss at the hands of a clinical Indian outfit as Virat Kohli & Co. put up a stunning bowling performance at Manchester on Thursday. West Indies cricketer Carlos Brathwaite has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" against India in Manchester, which also qualifies as a Level 1 breach in the ICC Code of Conduct.

The incident occurred during the 42nd over of India's innings. Brathwaite was protesting against the umpire's decision of declaring a wide off his bowling, which was reported by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth official Aleem Dar.

The Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Chris Broad which meant that there was no need for a formal hearing. The towering Windies all-rounder now has two demerit points since the introduction of the revised Code in September 2016 having racked up his first offence against England on June 14 in Southampton.
