French Open Round up | Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, Juan Martin del Potro qualify for round 3
Novak Djokovic has made it to the third round of the ongoing French Open as he won his match against Henri Laaksonen. Meanwhile, Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin del Potro also managed to win their respective matches on Thursday in the second round against Alexander Bublik and Yoshihito Nishioka.
Top seed Novak Djokovic had no problems whatsoever in making it to the third round of the French Open at the Roland Garros. World no. 1 men’s tennis player – Djokovic – registered a 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 win against Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen on Thursday and managed to cruise into the third round. He will now take on Italian qualifier Salvatore Caruso in the round of 32.
In another match, last year’s runner-up Dominic Thiem got the better of Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan to qualify for round 3. Thiem notched up a thrilling 6-3, 6-7 (6/8), 6-3, 7-5 win against Bulbik in the second round of the Grand Slam and will face Pablo Cuevas in his next match.
Argentina’s eighth seed tennis player Juan Martin del Potro has also qualified for the third round after a thrilling victory against Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan. The former US Open winner managed to beat the Japanese by 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (5/7), 6-2 sets to march into the round of 32 where he will face Australia’s Jordan Thompson next.
Alexander Zverev also registered an easy 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) win against Sweden’s qualifier Mikael Ymer in his second round match yesterday at the French Open.
