Shubhankar Sharma and Rashid Khan have led the Indian golfers into the weekend rounds of the ongoing Indian Open Golf in Gurugram, Haryana. Indo-American golfer Julian Suri has taken the lead into the weekend after a second consecutive round of 67 in the prestigious Indian Open on Friday.

Shubhankar ended the day at 73 and he was tied-19th after the end of the first two rounds of the competition. Rashid also played well and registered a two under par and was one of the top performers from the host country on Friday alongside Shubhankar.

On the other hand, after a second consecutive round of 67, Indo-American golfer Suri has taken the lead into the weekend in the ongoing championship. This is just his second competition of the season after his surgery on an abdominal hernia.

SSP Chawrasia, S Chikkarangappa (74-70) and Rahil Gangjee (70-74) at T-41 have also made a cut into the weekends. Ajeetesh Sandhu (74-71) was T-53 and Gaganjeet Bhullar (72-74) and Gaurav Pratap Singh (73-73) at T-61 have also fared well among the Indian golfers in the competition.

Former champions Anirban Lahiri (77-71) and Jyoti Randhawa ( 76-74) failed to make a cut into the weekend rounds of the tournament.

Earlier at the event, Shubhankar had ended the first round at tied seventh which was two shots behind the leaders as he finished with 69 after back-to-back bogeys in the round.

“I think I played very well today did not make too many mistakes. I missed a couple of key putts on my front nine. Made a silly mistake on six and seven but apart from those holes I am pretty happy with how I finished,” Sharma had told PTI after the first round.
