Indian golfer Shiv Kapur tied second at the Royal Cup Golf Tournament, owing to a mistake on either side of the turn at the 9th and 10th holes, while Gaganjeet Bhullar was able to finish 10th in the event. But it was South African Justin Hardin who continued his consecutive wins at the Asian Tour.

Shiv finished with a score of one-over 71, but ultimately ended at eight under, along with three other players tied for second place. Jake Mcleod (67), Chapchai Nirat (68), and Kurt Kitayama (67), all finished at eight under. Indian player Gaganjeet Bhullar (70), acquired a tied 10th position in the tournament. He was tied 11th in Sarawak, while in his last three starts, he has made it to top 10 finish.

S Chikkarangappa (67) and Viraj Madappa (68), tied 14th while Himmat Rai (70) managed to tie at 36th. Khalin Joshi (42nd), Rashid Khan (56th), and Honey Baisoya (59th) were the remaining Indians in the event.

Starting the day with eight pars, Kapur missed two makeable putts but it was a double bogey that aggravated over the result. Another bogey at the 10th hole made it very difficult for him to launch any sort of a comeback.

“I'm disappointed obviously. Around the turn I played poorly and made a bad decision on the ninth hole in my second shot and then ended making double bogey and carried on the frustration to make bogey on the next hole,” Kapur said.

“So, that's when I lost the tournament and played myself out of it but I'm proud with the way I came back from that despite being completely out of sorts I managed to fight back and finish second,” he added.

Shiv had missed only four greens and hit nine fairways. This was the first top 10 finish for Kapur on the Asian Tour, after he claimed the Royal Cup Golf Tournament in 2017. He had finished 10th on the order of merit after his 2017, Royal Cup win and is currently 39th in the Humanity Standings.
