And the timings are in! Priyanka has certainly bettered her personal best, walking in 1st with a time of 1:37:58:32.  Shanti Kumar finished 2nd with 1:38:38:70 and Rani Yadav 3rd, with 1:38:51:30.  There 3 were a full 9 minutes ahead of 4th position, Ravina, with 1:47:16.88.

Irfan and Devender continue their dominance in India in the 20 km edition of the race. Irfan set the national record with 1:20:21  at the London Olympics and Devender was again just a fraction of a second behind at Nomi, Japan, in 2016.

In the men's 50 km walk, after 28 laps, Chandan Singh, Sandeep Kumar and Surinder Singh from Punjab are in the lead.  Maniram Singh has dropped out of the top 3, as it stands.

In a spectacular finish, Irfan KT, Devender Singh and Ganapathi (from Tamil Nadu) finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 20 km walk.  Gurmeet Singh, who was poised to finish strongly, was disqualified by the judges for infringement.

A quirky rule in Race Walking: If an athlete's foot loses contact with the ground at any time, judges can hand out a red card.  3 red cards result in the athlete's disqualification from the event.

All eyes will be on Manish Rawat, the race walker from Uttarakhand, as he takes to the track in the Men's 20 km walk.  He finished 13th in the event in the Rio Olympics, ahead of much higher ranked opponents.
