PKL 2019 | Six point raid turned the match in our favour, says Krishan Kumar Hooda

Dabang Delhi K.C coach Krishan Kumar Hooda has stated that the Chandran Ranjit’s raid which earned their team six points turned the tide in their favour and made them win by such huge point margin. The Bengal Warriors’ unbeaten run ended after they were defeated by Dabang Delhi 39-30.

Dabang Delhi managed to defeat the undefeated Bengal Warriors as the latter lost its first match of this season. They were soundly defeated by a margin of nine points by the team from Delhi in the interzone week. At the post match conference, the winning team Dabang Delhi K.C were represented by coach Krishan Kumar Hooda and captain Joginder Narwal while Bengal Warriors had coach Jagdish Kumble and captain Surjeet Singh come to talk to the media. The winning coach suggested that one six point raid turned the match totally in their favour.

“Chandran Ranjit’s six-point raid swung the pendulum firmly in our side. It was an outstanding moment for us and that really was the turning point,” Krishan Kumar Hooda said at the post match conference.

“Post our last game in Sonepat, coach Hooda really worked hard to ensure we iron out the errors we made against Haryana Steelers. We talked about them and assessed what it was we had to do to ensure we keep Maninder Singh quiet. And it all came together quite nicely”.

The Bengal Warriors had come close to losing one match against UP Yoddhas when the match ended in a tie at 40-40 but remained unbeaten in the first three encounters this season. Commending the same the Dabang Delhi coach lavished praise on his opposition.

“They are an excellent team with experienced players. One of the best in Zone B. We are pleased to beat them.”

The coach also praised his team for the performance saying that apart from working on individuals players’ skills and talent, he focuses the most on the team as a whole.

“We don’t focus on individuals. We focus on the team. We assess the individual skills of each player and assess how their strengths will give us an edge against specific oppositions. All 12 of my players are outstanding so I don’t focus on an individual”.

On the other hand, the losing side of Bengal Warriors’ representatives at the post match conference were disappointed by their performance which also reflected in their body language as they spoke.

“The six-point raid was a huge blow. Post that, we were had a 10-point deficit and were constantly chasing the game. That was the turning point of the match. These things happen. It’s a long season. We will regroup, work on our mistakes and try to put in a better performance in the next game,” coach Jagdish Kumble said.
