Iran were handed their first defeat at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup by Poland in what was an incredible display by the Europeans, who ran away 41-25 winners. Bangladesh broke Poland's record of 75 points in a game by notching 80 against a hapless Australia, who could only muster eight.

Group B

Iran's four-game winning streak was brought to an abrupt end by Poland in what was the last group game for both sides. With Iran already having confirmed a place in the semi-finals, and Poland out of contention, it was pride that was at stake.

In the first quarter of an hour, the game was close with the scoreboard reading 13-11 in Poland's favor. After the interval, though, Poland returned with a renewed sense of confidence and in the next 10 minutes extended their lead to 10 points.

Even as Iran tried to counter the Europeans, Poland kept extending their lead through Captain Michal Spiczko, Piotr Pamulak and Jan Baranowicz with the former completing a brilliant Super 10.

While the result would help restore some lost pride for the Poles, Iran might finish second in the group and end up facing the only unbeaten team in the competition in the shape of South Korea in the semi-finals.

Group A

In Group A, Bangladesh gave themselves an outside chance of qualifying for the knock-outs after a convincing win against Australia. Bangladesh broke both the tournament record for most points and the biggest margin of victory in the match that ended 80-8 in favor of the Asian team.

Bangladesh jumped to a 14-0 lead in under 10 minutes. After the Aussies earned their first point, the Asian team went on another 13-point run, ending the half 36-2.

Australia crumbled in the second half, conceding 44 points in 20 minutes. Aruduzzaman Munshi (17) and Sabuj Mia (10) both completed Super 10s with the former scoring all his points in raids.

Bangladesh require a favor from England in today's game against India to qualify for the knock-outs. India need to avoid defeat or lose with a bonus point to cement their place in the semi-finals.
