The transfer saga surrounding Marcus Rashford continues, as the Manchester United forward sets his sights on a loan move to Barcelona before the January transfer window closes. However, the deal depends on Barcelona offloading up to two players due to La Liga’s squad cost limit rules.
Despite rejecting offers from several clubs, including Tottenham, Rashford is determined to join the Catalan giants. Barcelona is prepared to cover most, if not all, of Rashford’s £375,000-a-week salary.
With the deadline looming, the deal could fall through if Barcelona cannot make the necessary player exits. Rashford and United are both eager for a move, but if it does not materialize, the 25-year-old may remain at Manchester United, where he has been out of favour since mid-December.
He has not featured in the starting XI since December 12, and United manager Ruben Amorim recently stated that Rashford must change to re-enter the first-team picture. Should Rashford leave, United would look to Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel as a potential replacement. Meanwhile, United is nearing a €30 million (£25 million) deal for Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu.
