Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has asserted that he doesn’t regret taking over the hotseat at Old Trafford as he knew the situation at the English club was difficult from the start. The German manager is set to take up a two-year consultancy role with the club in the summer.

Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from his role as their manager in November due to their shocking form from the start of the season. The English giants held off on hiring a permanent manager immediately with Ralf Rangnick brought in as their interim manager for the rest of the season as they looked to achieve a change in fortunes. However, the German manager has been unable to arrest United's slump since taking over at the club.

The former RB Leipzig manager has led the English giants to only nine victories out of the 22 as they are out of the running for any major silverware this season. Furthermore, according to reports that surfaced last week, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is set to be the permanent manager of United ahead of next season and an official announcement could suffice after the Dutch club’s crucial KNVB cup final against PSV on Sunday. Rangnick revealed that he doesn’t have any regrets over taking the managerial job at United.

“No. No regrets whatsoever. I would do it over and over again. As a manager you always have to question and ask yourself what you could have done better. This is what always happens we always ask question ourselves what we could have done better,” Rangnick said in a press conference.

"I think we are all aware it’s not an easy squad, the whole situation was not easy or I would not be sitting here and Ole would probably still be here. Again, I think we have shown in the past couple of months we were able to raise the level but not in the same sustainable way that I would have wished. That’s the reason I’m not happy at all with what we’ve done and achieved so far,” he added.
