Think that model that Barcelona and Real Madrid are defending is dead, asserts Javier Tebas

La Liga president Javier Tebas believes that the Super League is dead without the English clubs and has asked both Barcelona and Real Madrid to realise that they’re in the wrong. The Super League has been suspended at the moment after nine out of the twelve founders withdrew from the project.

While the Super League rocked the world of football, the eventual suspension of the project came as no shock to no fans or critics despite the way things were organised. However, while nine of twelve founders have withdraw from the project officially, three still remain with them being Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus. The trio have been staunch in their refusal to not leave the project and still adamantly believe that it could be restarted.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is the latest, after Florentino Perez and Andrea Agnelli, to continue to defend the project and it has irked a few people across Europe. That includes Javier Tebas, who admitted that he has spoken to executives at Barcelona in recent days and they told him that they still believe in the project. However, the La Liga president admitted that he believes the project is dead and the two clubs, plus Juventus, refuse to believe that.

"I've spoken with Barca executives in recent days. They believe they should keep doing what they're doing and I think they're wrong. The concept of the Super League is impossible. Nine of the twelve clubs have asked to dissolve the company they founded," Tebas said, reported ESPN.

"The model they're defending, without the English clubs... I think it's dead. It's a boat with three castaways and a flag, and that flag is an injunction from a Madrid judge. Laporta says the courts have said they're in the right, but that's not true, it's one judge in Madrid and an injunction. I've tried to convince them that they're wrong and should work along other lines."
