Jude Bellingham, a primary target of Manchester United this summer has completed his transfer to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City for a fee over £20 million and a sell-on clause. The official announcement was made by the club via a post on their official Twitter handle on Monday.
17-year old Jude Bellingham’s name was doing rounds on many top English clubs’ wish list, including Manchester United and Chelsea, apart from German giants Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Bundesliga outfits Borussia Dortmund had an eye on the midfielder from 2018-19 and also convinced him to join them earlier this year.
Finally, the BVB completed the signing of the youngster for a reported fee of over £20 million and a sell-on clause. The club announced the signing via a post on their official Twitter handle, where many of their players were spotted singing ‘Hey Jude’ - a popular song by the Beatles, before revealing the new recruit towards the end of the video. The England U17 player was given the jersey number 22 by his new club.

“I can’t thank Birmingham City enough for what they have done for me – not just this season, but since the age of seven. Of course, I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but the best. Once a blue, always a blue. However, I’m incredibly excited to have joined one of the biggest clubs in Europe,” said Jude Bellingham, after signing over the dotted line, as reported by the Guardian.
Borussia Dortmund has been influential in nurturing young talents and shaping up many careers including the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho. Jude along with his representatives was impressed by Sancho’s development at the Signal Iduna Park, which also acted as a catalyst for the transfer. Even though Jude also paid a visit to the training grounds of Manchester United and Chelsea, he opted for a move out of England.
