Long-time NEUFC custodian TP Rehenesh has been put under interim suspension for violent conduct with immediate effect by the AIFF's Disciplinary Committee. Rehenesh was caught on camera trying to land a blow on ATK’s Gerson Vieira in the fifth minute of the game played on October 4.

Northeast United FC’s goalkeeper - TP Rehenesh has been put under interim suspension by the All India Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee for violent conduct against ATK’s Gerson Vieira. As a result, Rehenesh will not be able to feature in NEUFC’s upcoming match against Chennaiyin FC on October 18 in Chennai.

The India goalkeeper has been put on interim suspension pending full inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee after it was revealed through match footage, that Rehenesh had acted violently against ATK’s Vieira during the last encounter between the two teams at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 4.

In the fifth minute of the game, ATK earned a corner and centre-back Vieira went up to the other half for the set-piece. When the ball was delivered into the box, Vieira dived in hard for the ball, in doing so Rehenesh was was pushed into his goal as he tried to avoid a potential collision.

The NEUFC custodian retaliated by throwing a punch at the ex-Mumbai City defender. The on-field referee and his assistants missed the incident even though Vieira and the rest of the ATK team protested against Rehenesh’s action. However, Sena Ralte was sent off after he earned a second yellow card in the 31st minute in the match which the the visitors went on to win by a scoreline of 1-0.
