IBSF Snooker World Cup | Pankaj Advani and Laxman Rawat secure semi-final berth

India are assured of at least one medal at the IBSF Snooker World Cup in Doha after blanking Iran 3-0 after Pankaj Advani and Laxman Rawat advanced to the semi-finals. After last year’s gold medal finish, India will face the winner of the match between Hong Kong and Ireland in the semifinal.

On Sunday, Pankaj Advani and Laxman Rawat assured India of a medal at the IBSF Snooker World Cup in Doha after blanking Iran 3-0. After last year’s gold medal finish, India are in line to defend their title at this year’s edition as well.

India defeated Iran in the quarterfinal tie 3-0 and will next take on the winner of the match between Hong Kong and Ireland in the semifinal. Indian billiard international Rawat opened the proceedings with an 80-50 win in the first frame after which, veteran Advani, scored a 52 break. In the doubles, Pankaj and Rawat on the brink of playing the fourth frame before the former potted a long blue and confirmed the pink to secure a clean sweep for the Indian team. 

Advani has a successful record in Doha where he has ended up winning gold and silver in the two previous Asian Snooker Championships – in both the individual and team category as well.
