BCB Under Fire as Player Revolt Threatens Bangladesh Cricket

The CWAB released a statement which said, “A comment made by BCB director M Nazmul Islam regarding former national captain Tamim Iqbal has come to the attention of the Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh. We are stunned, shocked, and outraged by it. Such a remark by a board official about the most successful opener in Bangladesh's history, who represented the country for 16 years, is utterly condemnable. Not only because it concerns a player like Tamim, but such comments about any cricketer of the country are unacceptable and insulting to the entire cricketing community.”

The statement read, “We have already submitted a protest letter to the BCB president, demanding a public apology from the concerned board director and that he be brought under accountability. We hope the BCB president will take appropriate action as soon as possible.”

The professional cricketers of Bangladesh have now decided to protest on this matter. For this, they have also received the support from the CWAB association, as both parties demand the resignation of M Nazmul Islam, who is the Chairman of the Finance Committee. The deadline of the same has been set down fixture.
The CWAB says that Nazmul should resign by 15 January, which is today. And if he fails to do so, the players will also refuse to take the field across all cricket activities. This all is set to happen today, with the next few hours deciding the fate of Bangladesh cricket. It is also being said that the players will suffer financially if the the T20 World Cup.
Moreover, the BCB won't be compensating the losses which players will suffer by not participating in the tournament. Mohammad Mithun, who is the President of CWAB, said that they have taken this decision to boycott during an emergency online press conference. He also said that the words by the director have crossed the line.
Mithun said, “The words that the board director has used about the players are completely unacceptable to the players. It has deeply hurt the entire body of cricketers. We have even given the board a lot of time on the First Division, and still we haven’t seen any positive result.”
The deadline for the same has been set for the upcoming BPL match, which is between Rajshahi Warriors and Sylhet Titans. Mithun also delivered a warning to the BCB for the same, saying that if Nazmul won't resign before the same, “from tomorrow onward we are announcing a .” One match has already been delayed, with both teams not arriving at the stadium.
The BCB has also noted the seriousness of this matter.
