Watch, SA20 | Lungi Ngidi powers Pretoria Capitals to thrilling win with historic first hat-trick

Lungi Ngidi created history during the SA20 game against Durban’s Super Giants in Durban on Wednesday. The Pretoria Capitals pacer recorded the first hat-trick of the tournament when he dismissed David Wiese, Sunil Narine, and Gerald Coetzee in the 18th over to guide the visitors to a 15-run win.

However, it was Ngidi who stole the show at Kingsmead, recording the first hat-trick in the four-year history of the tournament. The South African pacer came back to bowl his last over as the home side needed 44 from the remaining three overs, with the well-set Jos Buttler and big-hitting David Wiese at the crease.
But Ngidi was up to task straightaway, outfoxing Wiese with a slower delivery, off the second delivery, forcing him to miscue a skier on the leg side. The pacer then caught Sunil Narine by surprise with a quicker short ball next up and rushed him on the pull.
Off the next ball, he got the better of fellow countryman Gerald Coetzee, triggering an identical dismissal to that of Wiese’s. In a matter of three balls, he changed the course of the game as the hosts could manage just two runs off him and another two runs coming in byes, as the target skewed to 40 off the last 12 with only two wickets in hand.
His clever bowling not only helped him reach a distinct milestone in the SA20 but also gave his side valuable points in a tough away game.
A historic first!
The first-ever hattrick 🫡
