GT vs MI | Twitter in awe as Sudharsan channels inner de Gea to spectacularly assist Bairstow dismissal

When David de Gea popularized the trailing hand method to make saves, the football world watched stunned. Little did he know it would make for a highlight reel moment in a different sport on the other side of the world, and has Sai Sudharsan's antics in Mullanpur to thank for it.
Mumbai Indians got off to a dream start in the IPL Eliminator on Friday as a Jonny Bairstow blitzkrieg at the top of the order saw him score 26 runs off the fourth over alone. His opening partner Rohit Sharma got off to a scratchy start in comparison, surviving two dropped catches from Gerald Coetzee and Kusal Mendis within the first three overs, but joined the party soon after and by the end of over seven the team score had surpassed 80. As has been the case throughout this season, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill turned to Sai Kishore for a breakthrough and while the orthodox spinner did deliver, it was the manner in which the opening breakthrough came that made headlines.
On the second ball of the eighth over, Bairstow was prepared for a reverse-sweep even before Kishore delivered the ball and went through with his plan against a looped-up fuller one. The Englishman seemed to have got enough behind the Kookaburra to send it sailing over the ring of fielders in the inner-circle but to his chagrin, Sai Sudharsan sprung off the ground high and wide to his left with the trailing hand aloft and just managed to parry the white rock travelling at an incredulous speed. While the opener fell to the ground in a heap after his effort, Coetzee stood waiting next to him as the ball nestled into his palms to signal the end of Bairstow.
Gill and the rest of his crew were ecstatic at having pulled out a crucial wicket out of thin air, quite literally.
