WI vs AUS | Twitter in awe as Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood headline Australia’s win in first Test
Australia beat West Indies by 159 runs on the third day of the first Test in Barbados. Travis Head, Beau Webster and Alex Carey hit half-centuries to power Australia to 310 in the second innings before pacer Josh Hazlewood picked up a fifer to bowl out the hosts for 141 in the last session.

Starting day three at 92/4, Head and Webster extended their fifth-wicket partnership to 102 before Head departed for 61 with his knock consisting of eight boundaries. Webster (63) and Carey (65), who came in next, also completed their respective half-centuries as Australia went past the 300-run mark with valuable contributions from the tail. Carey was the top-scorer in the second innings scoring seven fours and two sixes during his 75-ball knock. Shamar Joseph picked up 5/87 for the West Indies, ending with a match haul of nine wickets, while Alzarri Joseph picked up two wickets.
Chasing 301 for an improbable win, the hosts’ innings unravelled in quick time as they were bowled out for 141 in a single session. Shamar was their top-scorer with an entertaining 22-ball 44 which included four fours and sixes but that just delayed the inevitable. Hazlewood ran through the West Indies top-order before finishing with an impressive spell of 5/43 while spinner Nathan Lyon picked up two wickets as the Aussies started their tour on a commanding note to lead the three-match series 1-0.
