ENG vs IND | Twitter in disbelief as Siraj breathes fire to scalp Root and Stokes on successive balls

Cricket has always had its fair share of confidence bowlers -- beasts that can decimate lineups singlehandedly on a good day and be tamed without ado on a bad day. Mohammed Siraj has shown this very ability to have great peaks and troughs, with Edgbaston privileged enough to experience this former.
India took to the field in Birmingham brimming with confidence on Day 2, having restricted England to 77/3 on the previous evening after themselves posting a mammoth total of 587. However, in Joe Root and Harry Brook, two of the visitors' mainstays remained at the crease with both in exceptional form of late. The duo had already stitched together a half-century stand on Thursday and with the pitch showcasing little signs of wear and tear, the opportunity was ripe to pile on some comfortable runs. But Mohammed Siraj had something to say about it.
The right-arm quick had already scalped Zak Crawley on Day 1 and was handed the responsibility of opening the bowling alongside Akash Deep on the second day as well. Siraj began against Brook who on the second ball tucked away a single to hand Root the strike. The English veteran shuffled across as Siraj steamed in but the wily pacer cleverly angled the ball down leg, taking Root by surprise who instinctively played at his pads and got a fine tickle to the wicket-keeper. Rishabh Pant and company immediately went up in raucous celebrations whille the cameras panned to Root, who looked at the heavens as if asking forgiveness. The walk-off was slower than the painful realization of his mistake, the baby-sized steps a clear reflection of Root's guilt. To make matters worse for England, Siraj delivered a hair-raising bumper that lifted off the deck towards Ben Stokes first-up. The skipper was unable to get his bat out of the way in time and two wickets in two suddenly left England reeling at 84/5.
Twitterati could not have asked for a better start to the day's proceedings.
