‌It takes guts to make a comeback after a devastating setback that threatens your career. Rishabh Pant’s resurgence to Test cricket is no fairytale as the wicketkeeper-batter renounced himself with a fine century against Bangladesh on his first Test following the car disaster.

The overnight batters Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill continued to extend their brief stint from the previous day with an observative approach for the first few overs. The pair swiftly switched gears after seeing nothing on offer for the bowlers on the third day. With time, Pant and Gill raced to their fifties and countered the Bangladeshi bowlers with attacking strokes. Resuming his innings from 82 after Lunch, Pant followed up a six with a couple of fours to near the 100-run mark before bringing up the milestone mark in the 55th over.

Having been dismissed in the nineties six times in Tests, Pant looked a tad cautious on 99*. Following three dots off Shakib in the 55th over, the southpaw pushed a fuller delivery near the off peg towards the right of long off to return for a couple of runs. Bringing up his sixth Test hundred after almost 700 days, he was seen as emotional as the dressing room and the crowd stood up for a standing ovation. The Roorkee-born star raised his bat and looked up to the almighty for the blessings. Seeing a naturally gifted cricketer make an immaculate comeback to the format he belongs the most, the Twitterverse showered with emotions.
