PAK One Day Cup | Twitter reacts to Faisal Iqbal down on knees as fielders recreate Ajmal and Malikās fielding horror
From the invention of computers to the rise of the internet and the looming AI revolution, one constant remains despite all advancements: Pakistanās fielding struggles. Once again, fielding horror resurfaced during the Pakistan One Day Cupās fifth match, echoing a familiar blunder.
The first ball of the 21st over saw Faisal Akram come over the wicket and bowl a tossed-up delivery outside the stumps that Mubasir tried to heave by sitting on his knees. Although the ball came off the top-edge of the willow, the ball traversed past the ropes, earning him a four. However, there were a couple of fielders converging from deep mid wicket and long on with the latter being in a catching position. The long-on fielder ended up misjudging the ball in the air and as it bounced inside the ropes, he also made a failed effort to pat it inside the rope. The whole incident resonated with Pakistanās iconic fielding blunder with Shoaib Malik and Saeed Ajmal involved, leaving the Twitterverse in splits.
