Former South African cricketer JP Duminy has been appointed as the head coach of the ILT20 franchise Sharjah Warriors for the upcoming third season. The 40-year-old succeeds fellow Proteas cricketer and coach Johan Botha, who led the team during the second edition of the marquee league.

‌With over 15 years of international cricket under his belt, JP Duminy is recognized as one of the top T20 players in the game. The left-handed batsman has scored 9154 international runs across 345 matches, maintaining a strike rate above 120. Complementing his batting, Duminy has also been effective with the ball, taking 99 wickets with his right-arm off-breaks. His rich experience spans various top-tier leagues like the IPL, CPL, and PSL, where he has displayed his all-round talent for teams such as Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Islamabad United.

In early 2023, Duminy was appointed as the batting coach for South Africa's men's white-ball cricket teams, and under his guidance, the team excelled with the bat during the ODI World Cup in India, consistently posting scores above 300. In addition to his role with the national team, Duminy has served as the Head Coach for the Paarl Royals in the SA20 league and the Boland Rocks’ provincial team, further showcasing his leadership and coaching abilities.
