All human bodies have finite potentials, regardless of the immense talent their carrier possesses. Rishabh Pant learned the lesson the hard way on Thursday after he failed to gather a ball while wicket keeping which led to the aggravation of past knee injuries, thus forcing him off the field.

New Zealand dominated proceedings in Bangalore on Day 2 as they racked up 190 runa for the loss of just three wickets after bowling out India for a paltry 46 in the second session. However, there was even more misery in store for the Men in Blue as Rishabh Pant ended the day in the dugout, reeling from a swollen knee after an unfortunate blow.

On the last ball of the 37th over, Devon Conway strode out from the crease to try and launch Ravindra Jadeja into the stands but the left-arm spinner's flatter trajectory trumped the Kiwi opener as the SG spun past the inside edge and narrowly missed the off-stump. There was still a stumping chance waiting to be grasped but even Pant failed to read his compatriot's delivery on this occasion and was left stranded when the red cherry thumped into his right knee, immediately eliciting a scream of agony.

The physios rushed to the field while Pant lay on the field with his eyes shut close in pain. Eventually, he had to limp off the field through all the discomfort and was seen clutching his head in his hands once on the sidelines. The injury occurred in the same area that had been operated after the youngster's car accident in 2022 and Twitterati were quick to send their best wishes to the dynamic keeper batter.

That hurts a lot!
