AUS vs IND | Webster earns maiden call-up as Australia announce squad for Pink ball Test against India
Tasmanian all-rounder who impressed in the Sheffield Shield tournament recently has been called up as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh for the second Test against India. The all-rounder felt sore after bowling in the first Test and has been rested for the upcoming Test at the Adelaide Oval.
Marsh, who bowled his most overs in First Class games in the last three years picked up sore after Australia’s thumping loss to India at the Optus Stadium, Perth in the first Test. As a result, the Western Australian all-rounder has been rested with Webster earning a maiden call-up.
"I feel like I have done it all over the past 10 years, at the top or in the middle. But I dare say the role will be somewhere between that five or seven role with the bat and bowl some overs as well [if I do debut]. Probably seam-up, we've got the spin department covered pretty convincingly with Nathan and a few other guy,” Webster said.
Meanwhile, the visitors are scheduled to play a two-day pink ball affair against Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval, Canberra, starting November 30.
Australia squad for second Test: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wk), Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith
