PSL Final | Twitter lauds Imad Wasim etching his name in history books with sensational fifer

It takes a different kind of beast to put your best foot forward when the stakes are the highest and the pressure overwhelming, and Imad Wasim proved on Monday that he is no ordinary cricketer. The spinner ripped through the Multan Sultans in the summit clash in Karachi to turn the game on its head.

Multan Sultans unsurprisingly elected to bat first on a typical flat deck in Karachi but ran into the unyielding force of Imad Wasim that completely derailed their plans of putting up a match-winning score. With the deck just offering a hint of turn, the left-arm orthodox spun webs around the power-packed Sultans batting lineup to become the first bowler in the tournament's history with a five-wicket haul in the summit clash and place Islamabad United on the front foot.

Imad's inroads began in his first over itself as he deceived a charging Yasir Khan with the flight to have him caught at short third-man before firing in an arm ball to rattle David Willey's stumps and leave the Sultants reeling at 14/2. The dangerous Johnson Charles became Imad's next target 10 overs later as the veteran cramped the Caribbean batter by giving the ball exceptional air who ended up top-edging one to Naseem Shah at short fine-leg. However, Imad had saved his best for his final over as he first had Khushdil Shah holed on the boundary before a ripper turned significantly away from Chris Jordan to catch the outside edge and nestle into Azam Khan's gloves.

The Twitterati took little time to acknowledge the achievements of the recently retired all-rounder and showered praise over him on social media.
