BAN vs AFG | Twitter stunned as searing Tanzim bumper rips apart Gurbaz's glove
Cricket equipment has come a long way from the olden days but clearly not far enough given the occasional broken helmet and now, a bizarrely ripped glove. Rahmanullah Gurbaz had to face the wrath of an on-song Tanzim Hasan Sakib on Tuesday, with one fierce bouncer tearing the glove's index finger.
Bangladesh put up an exhibition of pace bowling with the shiny new Kookaburra at Kingstown in a must-win encounter to severely restrict Afghanistan's in-form opening pair. The latter managed just 58 runs in the first half of their innings but the reasons behind their struggle were made viscerally evident when Rahmanullah Gurbaz's glove fell victim to the sheer venom of Tanzim Hasan Sakib's raw pace and bounce.
On the penultimate ball of the eighth over, the right-arm quick banged the ball on a short length into the deck that stuck in the surface for a split second before rising ferociously towards Gurbaz. The opener did well to raise his hands in time and gently dab the ball towards short third man for a single albeit the approach could have potentially ended his tournament. As soon as Gurbaz reached the other hand, he signalled the dugout for a replacement glove and the cameras caught a piece of the glove dangling by his index finger. Replays showed the impact of the Kookaburra had immediately compromised the protective gear and Gurbaz was lucky to walk away scot-free.
Twitterati as always were quick to share their opinion on the amusing incident.

That was a bad shot!
Ban got first breakthrough, R Hossain got I Zadran caught by T Shakib 🤔 He gave a good support to Gurbaz and platform to launch 🐎

They need to switch from here!
Afganistan need to gear up plsssssss .

10 over 58 runs ... even not upto 6 run/over with ZERO wicket. Not acceptable.
Go Afganistan go ... At least need 170 runs score to defand.
They look very comfortable but also need to concentrate on their SR's too!
Afghanistan openers always set up a strong base for middle order but one drawback is they are little slow to accelerate runrate. If they work on ..It would be a monster.

I tell you, these commentators of . have scored just 50/0 in 8.2 overs , but they make you believe that the Afghans have already won the game.
— VIVRIT🇮🇳 (@Vivrit)
