An unpredictable factor always surrounds the game of cricket, and when heavy-weight teams clash, it only heightens the expectations. Only few would’ve expected Mitchell Starc to concede four sixes in a 29-run over as Rohit Sharma switched on ‘Hitman’ mode against all odds in St Lucia.

The toss favoured Australian captain Mitch Marsh who opted to field first, in what could be labeled as a virtual knockout game against India. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opted for a cautious approach against the new ball but Josh Hazlewood struck early by removing the former Indian captain with a back of a length delivery in the second over. Despite the fall of a wicket, Rohit seemed unbothered and opted for a gung-ho intent against the opposition’s premium pacer.

After conceding just five runs in his first over, Mitch Starc dished a full and widish delivery on the first couple of deliveries that the Indian captain sliced over deep cover with nice wrist work. Right after, the left-arm quick adjusted the line near the fifth stump but the batter got enough off the inside half as the ball swirled over mid-on for a four. Subsequently, Rohit picked a length ball off the pacer and clubbed it over deep mid wicket for a 96-meter six. Although a dot ball followed suit, Starc erred once again as a juicy full toss outside the stumps flew over the fine of third man region off Rohit Sharma’s top-edge in an attempt to pull.

Realising an audacious approach from the Indian captain and smashing Starc for his career-worst T20I runs in an over, the Twitterverse exploded.
