BAN vs NEP | Twitter reacts to apologetic Shakib down to knees after enticing Mahmadullah into a horrible mixup
The ‘presence of mind’ is an underrated virtue in a game of cricket. Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan seemed under-cautious of where the ball was going, adding to the woes of Bangladesh's batting struggles against Nepal by involving Mahmadullah in a terrible mix-up in Kingstown.
On the final ball of the ninth over, Sandeep Lamichhane sprayed a low full-toss outside the stumps that Shakib nudged towards the right of the bowler. Looking for a run initially, Shakib strolled out of the crease with Mahmadullah coordinating from the opposite end. However, Gulsan Jha at short extra cover was quick to trace the ball and made a throw at the non-striker’s end with Mahmadullah stuck midway through the pitch after Shakib gave up lately to cross over. Realizing his mistake, Shakib fell to his knees with the arm raised over his helmet, grueling in agony, after adding woes to their batting injuries. The Twitterverse closely followed this incident and here is how they reacted to it.
