ENG vs OMA | England take big stride towards Super 8 qualification by demolishing Oman for 47 all-out
England registered their first win of the 2024 T20 World Cup by chasing down a paltry target against Oman in Antigua. Adil Rashid's 4/11 was aided by Mark Wood and Jofra Archer's three scalps each to take their net run rate from -1.800 to 3.081, thus keeping the side in the hunt for a Super 8 spot.
Brief score: ENG 50/2 (3.1) [Buttler 24*(8), Salt 12(3); Kaleemullah 1/10(1)] defeat OMA 47 (13.2) [Shoaib 11(23), Prajapati 9(16); Rashid 4/11(4)] by eight wickets
Asked to bat first, Oman's out-of-sorts top-order simply had no answers to the express pace of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. The duo clocked well over 90 mph to scalp two each in the powerplay and left the Asian contingent reeling at 25/4 after six overs. A wily stumping off Adil Rashid's very first ball further cratered the batting side's hopes, before a 50th T20I scalp for Wood, three more sensational Rashid deliveries, and a third wicket in the game for Archer bowled out Oman for 47, with Shoaib Khan the only batter managing double digits.
In response, Phil Salt set the stage for a much-needed net run rate boost by smashing two maximums to begin the innings. Despite a couple of hiccups thereafter, the reigning champions eventually chased down the target in just over three overs, thus ensuring Scotland need to defeat Australia as long as the Englishmen triumph over Namibia in their final group-stage encounter.

Just 19 balls
19 balls for England to knock off the required runs. After all the hand wringing about the first two games there's now a good chance to qualify for the next stage.

That's how it's done
That's how you bring your net run rate at par. Buttler & Co. clapped back at Australia with an astounding win, putting a record run chase on board in only 3.1 overs.
