It won’t be wrong to say that the rise of various franchise tournaments increased the level of cricketing entertainment. While the game is known to be amused by the cricketers, a stray dog took things in control, indulging a buggy cam and the groundsmen in a crime patrol-like affair.

Winning the toss and electing to field first paid rich dividends for the Jaffna Kings inside the powerplay as Jason Behrendorff proved to be at his lethal best under the lights. The left-arm quick found lateral movement with the new ball, knocking down the Galle Marvels openers within the fourth over. The new batters, Tim Seifert and Janith Liyanage opted for a watchful approach for the next couple of overs before the attention switched towards a furry intruder causing a sudden pause in play.

With the score reading 21/2 in the powerplay, Asitha Fernando strolled towards his run-up mark region when a dog trespassed into the field of play. The bowler tried to shun the dog away but it seemed perplexed by the number of individuals around him. Subsequently, a buggy cam entered the fray and chased the canine before a couple of groundsmen tried to move him away. For once, the dog even stepped off the field but returned in quick time to cause an extended halt in play. Eventually, one of the staff managed to calm the carnivore down and carry him off the ground to resume the proceedings.

The crowd enjoyed the wholesome content live with huge cheers, and the Twitterverse could not shy away from laughs.
